MEXICAN CULTURE

 The history of Mexico

  The history of Mexico, a country located in North America (in the northernmost portion of Mesoamerica), dates back to about 14,000 years (according to the consensus of Clovis), which is estimated to have occurred in the first settlements of sedentary people. Before the Spanish conquest in the sixteenth century, what it is now Mexico was inhabited by people of cultures interacted with each other in varying degrees, in time and territory. From that time they stand Olmec culture, the Toltec, the Teotihuacan, Maya, Nahua, Totonac, Zapotec, Mixtec and Tarasco, among others.
On arrival of the Europeans, Mexico was a mosaic of peoples and cultures. After the conquest, for 300 years of viceroyalty he went constituting a country with a degree of homogeneity and common features. In the early nineteenth century with the independence of the Spanish empire is reached, the definitive integration process leading to contemporary Mexico begins. The piñata is a typical Mexican custom very happy and fun. These receptacles made of mache and filled with fruit and candy paper are very popular during the Christmas celebrations known as posadas and birthdays.
The bulls are also very popular in Mexico and are regarded as an element very settled in Mexican culture. The same goes for cockfights held in palenques throughout the country.
Mexican traditions and customs are different and varied. Each region has its own traditions and holidays and every community has its peculiarities.
